Talkeetna

Talkeetna is Athabascan for "where three rivers come together" and outdoor activities abound:
Denali

The Talkeetna Chamber website is a good source for businesses which provide a wide range of visitor services.

Fishing/Hunting

There is a public boat ramp downtown, and Mahay's Riverboat Service provides
jet boat service to the best fishing grounds. The Kings run in mid- July, silvers and reds a bit later. Flights to remote lakes are available, as well.

Fishing charters are available from Fishbone Charters, Just Fly Fish and Tri-Rivers.

And, once you've caught fish, Talkeetna Country Smokehouse can process your fish and send it home for you.

Hunting
Talkeetna is in Fish and Game area 14. Check the state web page for details
about licenses and hunting opportunities.

Winter Fun

We're open year round!
Winter means less crowds, but just as much fan. Talkeetna hosts a winter
festival which includes the Mountain Mama contest and the bachelor auction.

Groomed cross country ski trails provide access to a number of areas.

There's also the usual winter activities:
• snowmobiling
• snowshoeing

Dog Sledding

Huskytown Kennels (our next door neighbor) and Wings and Paws provide kennel tours and dog sled rides year round.

The Iditarod restart is in nearby Willow the first Sunday in March.  Get an up close and personal view of the "Last Great Race."
